When was the last time you thought of your favorite sports bar or pub as a community center?  If you are like most, you probably haven’t given it any thought other than it being a great place to retreat from the daily stresses and enjoy a good dinner with friends.

But the truth is that the origin of bars, in general, can be traced to its legacy of playing a role in history. Think back to the time of Colonial America when key leaders like George Washington and John Adams went to bars – or taverns as they called them – to vent about their frustrations and to hold pivotal conversations that eventually led to key events like the American Revolution.  The atmosphere in these taverns became a “public sphere” where people mingled and discussed issues common to individuals of all statuses.

The entertainment and sports element of bars evolved in the 18th century when bars hosted live wrestling events.

So there you have it – a condensed version of how bars like our family-owned sports bar came to be. We have you covered whether you want to watch the latest in sports, hear live music, eat award-winning food, or cheer to daily specials and a legacy of great conversations over cold drinks – with many more to come!
